GUIDANCE AND COUNSELING

The goal of Guidance and Counseling at Magnificat High School is to meet the individual needs of every student, from academic and guidance counseling to college placement. Counselors assist faculty and parents, forming a partnership in their roles as co-educators.

Counseling services are provided through two areas, Guidance Counseling and College Counseling. Each student attends a weekly 20 minute guidance class where goals and objectives are presented and attained.

Magnificat's guidance program begins in the freshman year which emphasizes high school orientation, academic planning, test-taking skills, and personal adjustment. Counselors help students select courses to meet their academic goals.

Sophomore year begins with a continuation of test-taking skills preparing for the PSAT and OGT. The college process begins through exploration of personal strengths and career development program. Scheduling and course selection continues to be geared toward academic forecasting and college selection.

The junior level begins with a more in-depth look at the college process, while continuing self-exploration and achieving success on the ACT/SAT. Emphasis is on the entire college process and in-depth interviews begin at this level. Parent and student involvement is key.

The senior program helps to guide students through the college application process and aims to provide students with skills necessary for a successful transition into college. Click here for a list of College Choices.
