COUNSELING SERVICES PROGRAM
Welcome to the Counseling Services Department! We are excited to be part of each student's journey as she navigates from freshman to senior year and beyond. Our philosophy is embedded in the Mission of Magnificat, as we strive to meet each student's needs personally, academically and in the career/college process. Counselors assist faculty and parents, forming a partnership in their roles as co-educators. Each student attends a weekly 20 minute guidance class where goals and objectives are presented and attained.

Magnificat's Counseling program begins in the freshman year which emphasizes high school orientation, academic planning, test-taking skills, and personal adjustment. Counselors help students select courses to meet their academic goals. The college process begins through exploration of personal strengths and a career development program with the introduction of and use of Naviance.

Sophomore year begins with a continuation of test-taking skills preparing for the PSAT and OGT. The college counseling continues as the students delve deeper into career exploration and how careers match with the college search. Scheduling and course selection continues to be geared toward academic forecasting and college selection.

The junior level begins with a more in-depth look at the college process, while continuing self-exploration and achieving success on the ACT/SAT. Emphasis is on the entire college process and in-depth interviews begin at this level. Parent and student involvement is key.

The senior program helps to guide students through the college application process and aims to provide students with skills necessary for a successful transition into college. Click here for a list of College Choices.
