With the new school year, came a new approach to providing nutritious meals for Magnificat’s students, faculty and staff. The school entered into a partnership with AVI Fresh to provide nutritious lunches, snacks and beverages throughout the school day, and enhanced catering services for school events. Following AVI Fresh’s philosophy of making a difference in every aspect of their customers’ dining experience, the culinary standards they set include specific guidelines to incorporate fresh foods in all recipes. Further, their commitment to local sustainability begins with a purchasing program that includes local farmers and vendors who provide not only fresh, but organic foods as much as possible.

This commitment to sustainability was the perfect match with Magnificat’s commitment to living “green” as well. Nutritional information is shared for all major items and Chef Adam Wilson constantly evaluates menu selections based on feedback from students, faculty and staff. In the short time, AVI Fresh has been a part of Magnificat, popular favorites that have emerged are a variety of wraps, healthy salads and unique entrée selections. New additions include gourmet coffee service in the morning before class, and soon, the addition of swipe cards. Parents can load money onto the card and replenish it as necessary. As students go through the line, they simply swipe the card, eliminating the need for cash and speeding up the lunch line to allow more time for students to enjoy their lunch. Chef Wilson was previously a chef at the Viking Store in 8 Legacy Village. Of the transition to his new role at Magnificat, he comments, “We’re excited and honored about the opportunity to serve Magnificat. Delivering an entire new approach to dining is what AVI Fresh is all about.”
