TUITION ASSISTANCE AND SCHOLARSHIPS
Financial Aid and Scholarships
Affordability
Magnificat is dedicated to serve a student body that is economically and socially diverse. We recognize the financial commitment necessary for a Magnificat education and over the last four years have provided nearly $4 million in tuition assistance to our students. The primary source of tuition assistance and scholarships comes from the Magnificat Endowment Fund. Income from the fund, along with gifts from alumnae, private donors and several foundations allow us to make a Magnificat education affordable for everyone. We are committed to helping interested and dedicated students so that they may experience what Magnificat can be for them - the investment that lasts a lifetime.
Qualifying for Assistance
Families should not hesitate to apply for assistance. All applications are evaluated with attention given to a variety of factors, including family assets and family size. Additional consideration is given to families with a number of children at tuition-charging institutions (including day care as well as elementary and high schools and colleges). The following are examples of who can qualify:
Family #1
$3000 |
Family #2
$5000 |
Family #3
$8000 ($4000 per student) |
Families requesting financial aid and applying for scholarships must fill out a Private School Aid Service (PSAS) application. PSAS, an independent organization, analyzes a family's ability to pay. The analysis is then sent to Magnificat. The amount of assistance is determined by the school based on family need and available resources. In addition to filling out the PSAS form the student must take the Magnificat High School Scholarship/Placement Test in November and fill out a separate scholarship application. To help families plan accordingly, Magnificat offers parents an estimate of financial aid and scholarships in January.

Donor Endowed Scholarship
Donor endowed scholarships provide opportunities for people to invest in the ministry of a Catholic education at Magnificat High School. Scholarships may be named in memory or honor of a family member, friend, or special teacher. They are an extraordinary gift, helping to fund nearly all or a portion of students' tuition each year. For this current school year, there are 143 endowments which are funding 263 scholarships, ranging from $500 to $10,000. Scholarships are awarded on a number of criteria including financial need, academic excellence and participation in service and leadership activities. Applicants must complete a PSAS application (due November 22, 2011) and a separate Donor Endowed Scholarship Application (due November 30, 2011). Scholarship recipients and donors are invited to meet and are encouraged to form relationships that may continue beyond the students' Magnificat career. Recipients will be notified by May 15, 2012.
