2018-2019 CURRICULUM GUIDE
New classes have been added to the 2018-2019 Magnificat Curriculum!
1. Presentation Technology:
This course is geared toward increasing student awareness of and comfort in using 21st century tools and technologies. In addition to basic keyboarding, a must for all college-bound students, other topics and skills covered include: Google drive, docs, sheets, slides and extensions; MovieMaker and green screen use; basic coding and web design; 3D printing and related technologies; and internet safety.
2. AP Computer Science Principles:
This course provides a multidisciplinary approach to learning the underlying principles of computing, including problem solving, working with data, understanding the Internet, cybersecurity, and programming. In it students will be introduced to the creative aspects of programming, abstractions, algorithms, large data sets, the Internet, cybersecurity concerns, and computing impacts. Students will learn how to creatively address realworld issues while using the same tools and processes that artists, writers, computer scientists, and engineers use to bring ideas to life. They will develop an increased awareness of how computing and technology influences the world around them while broadening their understanding of computer science for use in a diversity of majors and careers.
