Learn, Lead, and Serve in the Spirit of Mary's Magnificat

Agape Mural

On August 24, 2019 the Magnificat Community welcomed St. Adalbert parishioners to campus for "Love Requires Justice," a prayer service to bless and celebrate the Agape Mural painted by Chloe Becker '20. In Chloe's reflection during the all-school prayer service, she remarked, "Artwork can be hung up and taken down, but a mural is sewn into the framework of a building. In this way, I hope Magnificat collectively claims the call of the mural to recognize our shared responsibility to seek racial justice." Painting the mural was the result of Chloe's Agape Experiment, a Theology project wherein all junior students are called to develop a research-based approach to make the world more loving and just. Chloe's work was inspired by the US Bishops' pastoral letter against racism, "Open Wide Our Hearts," parishioners from St. Adalbert served as the models for the African and African American saints depicted in the mural.
