Steel MagnoliasApril 22-24, Magnificat Center for the Performing Arts

F and Sa shows are at 7 p.m.; Su Matinee at 2 p.m.

Steel Magnolias is the heartstring-tugging story of the lives of six remarkable Southern women who face all that life can throw them. The bittersweet Southern comedy takes place in Truvy Jones’ beauty salon, where three generations of outspoken Southern women regularly gather to laugh, cry and celebrate the events of their lives. But their world is rocked by a sudden and devastating tragedy that puts the ladies’ inner strength and love for one another to the ultimate test. Steel Magnolias is alternately hilarious and touching, and in the end, deeply revealing of the strength and purposefulness which underlies the antic banter of its characters. Rated PG-13.

Tickets are $13 for adults, $8 for students (18 and under) and seniors, and can be purchased at www.magnificat.tix.com.
