Sisters of Humility of Mary Connections
Our HM Heritage
The Magnificat community remains closely connected to the Sisters of the Humility of Mary, who founded Magnificat in 1955 and continue to sponsor our school. Thousands of women had HM Sisters as teachers and mentors during and after their time as students, and our alumnae along with current students, families, faculty, staff, and friends treasure the connection to the HM Sisters' spirit, mission, and charisms.
The Daily Prayer
Vice President of Mission Emerita Sister Helen Jean Novy, HM, writes prayers for every day of the year, which are emailed out to subscribers every morning. If you would like to sign up for the Daily Prayer, please email dailyprayer@maghs.org with your name and email address.
Sister Helen Jean's prayers focus on a variety of themes and topics, often tying into the season or the liturgical calendar and drawing inspiration from religious leaders. The first one was sent on Sept. 12, 2014—and now more than 4,000 prayers have been sent. Recipients often find personal connections to the prayers that uplift their spirits as they begin their days.
Circle of Prayer
The Circle of Prayer is a group of individuals that prays for weekly intentions submitted through Magnificat's website. The Circle of Prayer comprises faculty, staff, students, alumnae, parents, and friends. Each week, members receive an email with a list of people and issues to pray for, with submissions edited for privacy. The collective power of this effort lifts up those in need in prayer as community members look out for one another.

Request a Prayer
The Magnificat Circle of Prayer is made up of alumnae, parents, faculty, staff, and friends who commit to praying for all intentions asked of them throughout 2022. When you submit a prayer request, your intention will be added to the Book of Intentions in the Lourdes Chapel here at Magnificat and a candle will be lit as a prayer is said. Your intention will be prayed for daily by members of the Circle of Prayer and will also be remembered at monthly Chapel Masses and other All-School Masses.
