Sister Bernadette Vetter Legacy Society

The Sister Bernadette Vetter Legacy Society honors those who have chosen to make a positive impact on Magnificat's future through thoughtfully planned bequests or other estate gifts.

A graduate of Lourdes Academy, Sister Bernadette entered the Humility of Mary congregation in 1937 and took her vows in 1939. Known as Sister Mary of Lourdes to Magnificat's earliest graduates, Sister Bernadette Vetter was Magnificat's founding principal from 1955-1961, and she later taught theology at Magnificat from 1973-1986. Many of Sister Bernadette's students during these years used her award-winning My Journey, My Prayer book in class.

Passionate about lifelong learning and teaching, Sister Bernadette was deeply faithful and deeply devoted to Magnificat's mission to educate young women holistically to learn, lead, and serve in the spirit of Mary's Magnificat. Along with the Sisters of the Humility of Mary, she was equally committed to providing a Magnificat education to every young woman who wishes to attend. We are grateful to Magnificat High School's forward-thinking community members who, in this same spirit, have included Magnificat High School in their estate plans.
