Director of Strength and Conditioning Hired

With the hire of AJ Short, Magnificat is one of few girls schools in Ohio to this as a full-time faculty position. 
Magnificat High School is pleased to announce that AJ Short has been hired as the Director of Strength and Conditioning in the Athletic Department. This is a new role focused on strength, injury prevention, physical literacy, and self-confidence in Magnificat student-athletes. Magnificat is now one of few girls schools in Ohio to have this as a full-time faculty position. 

Coach Short joins us from Saint Ignatius High School, where he was the Associate Director of Strength and Conditioning for six years. In total, he brings 12 years of experience designing and implementing strength and conditioning programs across a variety of sports and age levels. He will be connecting with each program's Head Coach to begin setting up training for teams during their preseason, regular season, and off season. 
As a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, he holds multiple certifications including:
  • National Strength and Conditioning Association- Registered Strength and Conditioning Specialist (RSCC)
  • NASM Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES)
  • Functional Anatomy FRC Mobility Specialist
  • USA Weightlifting Level 1 Certification (USAW)
  • Precision Nutrition Level 1 Certification (PN1)
  • Yoga Alliance Level 500 Yoga Instructor
"What draws me to Magnificat is its dedication to educating young women holistically—spiritually, intellectually, and physically," Coach Short said. "I believe the weight room is an extension of the classroom, where students not only grow in strength but also in confidence, leadership, and teamwork. I am eager to collaborate with coaches, teachers, and administrators to align physical training with the school's values and support every athlete’s development."
